Study Finds 2.5% Rate of Current Autism Diagnosis

Researchers found that 2.79% of US children and teens had ever been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, while 2.5% of youths had current ASD. The study in JAMA Pediatrics, based on 2016 National Survey of Children’s Health data for 43,032 youths ages 3 to 17, found 70% of those with current ASD were being treated.
